Protecting God's Children

All Parish and School Staff as well as all volunteers working with children are required to be background checked and VIRTIUS trained.


The Three Requirements: Before regularly engaging in activities/programs involving minors and vulnerable adults— all diocesan personnel, which includes clergy, religious, diocesan parish or school employees, seminarians, and all adult volunteers are required to complete:

1. Safe Environment Training:

a) VIRTUS Account registration

b) Identify specific location(s) and Role

c) Complete the in-person or Online training

d) Notify local Safe Environment Coordinator/Program Coordinator

2. Background Disclosure and Authorization

Complete the Background Application through Selection, accessible in VIRTUS.

3. Current Code of Conduct

Required annually, available July 1, and expires Dec. 31 of the following year.

·     VIRTUS Monthly Bulletins

·     Reviewing the Code of Conduct annually

·     Re-screening (Background Checks continuously monitored)
